We are sailing

5 December 2016

On Saturday 3 December a group from 35th Plymouth (Whitleigh) Scout Group sailing with www.plymouthyouthsailing.co.uk out from Mount Batten Watersports & Activities Centre

The eight (Owen, Jessica, Luke, Cameron, Kaiden, Lennon, Nathan and David) learnt to put their own dinghy together before launching.

In the morning the group sailed in the Plym, just off from Mountbatten, practicing the skills required to to steer between two buoys.

After lunch the four boats headed out beyond Mountbatten Breakwater, right into Plymouth Sound and pretty much level with Jennycliff before returning.

We ended the day a little early as the weather, though ideal for sailing, was very chilly and everyone was looking forward to a hot shower.

A huge ‘Thank you’ to Josh for putting this day together for us, and to Barry and Zoe who also came along on the day to help with instruction and support. You gave us a fantastic experience and I have already been asked to get more sailing trips arranged.

Well done to all of the group. You may take a few days to warm through thoroughly and appreciate how much you achieved but be sure that very few ever do as much as you did.

We’ll try and make the next trip a summer one.
