Whitleigh Christmas Fair

12 December 2016

On Friday the Scouts headed down to Whitleigh Green straight after school to run sideshows and raise funds for the group.

A brave volunteer was needed to face the wet sponges thrown by customers. The scouts took this in turn, aided by a couple of Beavers. The queue became lengthy at times in a very strong response to the cry, “Soak a Scout!”

Held on the pavement in front of the Whitleigh Green shops the Fair attracted a large and varied crowd.

The tombola proved popular too, with all tickets sold out well within the time.

The final sideshow was more for fun than profit. For a small fee, people got to knock down a pyramid of tin cans. Plenty of noise and action, rewarded by sweets whatever the outcome.

Many thanks to Dave (Porkie’s Cafe) and everyone else who put on this fantastic Fair. We managed to raise over £150 for the Scout Group and may have recruited some youngsters and a new adult helper. If you are interested in joining then follow this link: Join 35th Plymouth (Whitleigh) Scouts
