May Fair – contributions and volunteers please

18 April 2017

Dear Parents and Carers

In order to provide a wider range of activities for your children without increasing regular subscriptions we are working hard behind the scenes to get grants and other sources of funds. The May Fair is aimed at boosting the group’s general cash flow as well as promoting the group within the community.

In order to make it a success we need help from you all.

May Fair

Please note: Change of date to avoid a clash with the Tug of War

The May Fair will be held from 11:00 – 15:00 on Saturday 20 May, at the Scout Hut. It will include:

Stalls promoting:

Stalls selling

  • cakes
  • plants and garden ware
  • second-hand books
  • second-hand toys

There will also be Refreshments and a wide range of Sideshows. The sideshows are designed to be fun with lots of little prizes for all abilities, so do come along with some small change and give them a go.

What can you do?

Have a clear-out at home and let us have any toys or books that are cluttering up your life. We can sell on at the fair giving them a new use, so everyone wins.

We would also love to have contributions for the cake and garden stalls. Obviously these need to be brought along fresh so either on the day, or at the Scouts meeting (Friday 19:00 – 21:00).

There will be about 20 stalls and sideshows at the fair. We need volunteers to help run these. Ideally we will have more than enough adults to support the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts so that volunteers can ‘work’ shifts and still have time to enjoy the activities themselves.

Section leaders will be asking for volunteers from this week. Please let us have a little bit of your time. All funds raised go to the group and therefore your children.

If you are not able to contribute in any other way then please do at least spread the word. Let friends, neighbours and social media followers know about the May Fair, specifically the date and location. Some may need to know where the Scout Hut is, though we aim to have signs made up for the day.

Why not share on Twitter or Facebook now? There are links to the right so it won’t take a second.

Thank you!

If you are able to help in any way, Thank you! Please let your child’s section leader know and the committee will coordinate.
